Craft Sessions

A wide variety of Craft sessions run throughout the year at the Bridge Project. Typical sessions include:

Card Making

Women are provided with the materials to create a variety of Handmade cards, run by an experienced crafter who is always happy to help with creative inspiration or advice. Seasonal materials are provided too, for example in the run up to Christmas, though attendees are free to create what they want!

Decoupage

Decoupage is the art of permanently decorating surfaces with paper images and colours. The papers are glued to the surface of the item to be decorated, then several coats of varnish, lacquer, glaze or clear-drying glue are applied to give a long lasting finish. Attendees have decorated boxes and containers for a number of uses such as jewellery boxes, and memory boxes for their children.

Jewellery Making

This is a popular session, where attendees get to unleash their creative flair to create items such as Earrings, Necklaces and Braclets, using a variety of materials such as, Wood, Acrylic, Glass, and Crystal. An experienced crafter is on hand to help with techniques.

Decorate/personalised your own mug or wineglass

Clients individually design and paint a Mug or wineglass, for themselves, or often as a unique home-made gift for someone special.

Mugs, glasses and paints are provided, although women are welcome to bring in their own glassware for decoration if they prefer.

Scrap booking

You might remember scrapbooks as a child - tired, uninspiring books filled with ticket stubs and newspaper clippings, clumsily glued in place.

You may be please to hear that scrapbooking today is vastly different - in our sessions, women made their own scrapbooks for a number of purposes such as baby books, memory books, poetry books. The brightly coloured, deeply personalised books were made and bound by the women, before being decorated with embellishments (both provided and brought in by attendees).

Glass and stone decorating

This session allows women to create decorative items with a twist - there is a "Go Green" element based on utilising objects from the environment and unwanted items are recycled, revamped and reused. Items have included transforming plain jars into pretty tealight holders, or transforming plain tiles into decorative items!

Fine Arts

As a result of several enquiries, we held a one-off "Fine Arts" session, which included Drawing, Painting and Sketching. A variety of media was used, inlcuding paints and pastels, and methods included still life sketching.
